Christmas 2015 preparations

As fall begins, the Board is already preparing for our Oct 24th BBQ fundraiser, and our Christmas Distribution Day on Dec 12th.

From our Board member Laura, she reports that a large group has been hard at work!
"We made 188 quarts of laundry soap with $388( all the ziplock bags were donated). You use 2-3 tablespoons of the soap per load. Our calculations showed we can do 5,640 loads. That works out to be $.07 a load. Tide averages .19 a load."

ReCAST Church is also returning to the project, and we are so grateful for all of these community efforts to help families in need.... THANK YOU!

Local student gives her time and heart to combat hunger

MacKenzie Leonard, a Mattawan High School student, recently completed her Gold Award for Girl Scouts. She created a project and slideshow to raise awareness of food insecurity in our area. THANK YOU MacKenzie, you being a servant heart and giving your time and talent to us!

She made over 200 containers of laundry soap for our Mattawan families. We are blessed to have MacKenzie in our community!

Annual Meeting set for April 13, 2015 at St. John Bosco

We welcome all public, volunteers, or community groups to attend our annual meeting on April 13th, 6PM at St. John Bosco church. We'll be reviewing our yearly numbers served, expanding food donation collections, and providing an update regarding our 501c3 status (which is still in the process of being reinstated with the assistance of Harold Shuitmaker). Once we are reinstated, all donations made will be tax deductible, as our status will be retroactive to last summer. We thank you for your donations; without food, we would not be able to continue serving our families.
